adopt_kittySenior To Senior Program

Ghandi said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way that its animals are treated.  You can tell even more, we believe, by the way its older animals are treated.”

The mission of the Senior to Senior Animal Adoption is to place senior dogs and cats, ages 5+ and older, with loving senior citizens, age 60+.  It has been proven in countless studies that seniors thrive from the companionship of a pet.

The Senior to Senior Animal Adoption Program is a joint program between the Saratoga County Office for the Aging and the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.

Program Guidelines:

Any Saratoga County Senior, 60+, wishing to adopt a senior pet is encouraged to visit the Animal Shelter or check out the available pets on the website.  Saratoga County Office for the Aging will pay all adoption fees and for the cost of spaying/neutering these pets. The senior just needs to pay a $6 license fee.

All additional medical and routine veterinary costs are assumed by the senior adopter.
