The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services presents a “Caregivers Conference”. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga Springs. The conference, entitled “A Guide to Caregiving,” will bring together caregivers, healthcare professionals, and experts from various fields to share knowledge, resources, and experiences to empower, educate, and support caregivers.

Navigating the Veteran’s Administration for Caregivers
Frank McClement, Director of the Veteran’s Service Agency of Saratoga County, and Suzanne Dean LCSW from the VA Caregiver Support Program will walk Caregivers through resources offered by the Dept. of Veteran’s Affairs and how to apply for these benefits.
Caregiving: We all need relief
Gwen Rowland and Mary Moller, Alzheimer’s Assoc. and Albany Guardian Soc. Will discuss the role of the Caregiver and the need for relief during stressful times. Resources and advocacy relative to Caregivers will be discussed.
Navigating Care
Christina Vendetti, Diane Coleman, and Renee Birnbaum, Eddy Alzheimer’s Services, Wesley Senior Solutions, and Choice Connections, will discuss how to receive care for your loved one. Dementia specific programs, licensed home care agencies, and assisted living facilities will be reviewed.
Planning for the Caregiver
A panel of individuals will review the nuts and bolts of preparing to acquire care for your loved one. Advanced directives, Medicare, Medicaid planning, Medicaid Long Term Care, and supplemental needs trusts will be reviewed and discussed.
Attendees will be able to make all of the sessions as they are offered multiple times during the conference.
