Adoption and Foster Care

The purpose of Foster Care is to provide temporary, safe living arrangements for children that have experienced (or are at significant risk of experiencing) abuse or neglect. Children who enter Foster Care are removed from their home by Child Protective Services due to parent or caregiver’s inability to protect their children. Their placement into Foster Care is adjudicated by Family Court. Children may also enter Foster Care when their parents are experiencing serious medical, mental health, or financial hardships and are unable to appropriately care for their children due to these circumstances. The primary duty of the Saratoga County Planning Department is assisting the county’s 19 towns, 2 cities, and 9 villages in the administration of their land-use ordinances as effectively as possible.  The Planning Department and Planning Board always strive to strike a balance between the interests of the public and the rights of private property owners.  One of its primary roles is to provide technical assistance in the area of planning and zoning to local legislative boards, planning and zoning boards of appeals and building inspectors, attorneys and planners involved in the land development process.

You will not be provided a confirmation number. Residents can submit real-time information about severe weather-related events and storm-related damage to infrastructure in Saratoga County. Information submitted will help inform effective and timely planning and response to storm conditions and damage. Information collected may be shared with first responders, town officials, the Saratoga County Office of Emergency Management, and the Saratoga County Department of Public Works if applicable.

March 27, 1930 marked the completion of the Conklingville Dam and the closing of its three large Dow valves, which hold back the 37 billion cubic feet of water we now know as the Great Sacandaga Lake.
